There’s lots of complex variables website designers need to consider these days as the general public is smartening up when it comes to using and understanding the Internet.
The initial part of the design process is probably the most creative and sophisticated part of web-development. First sketches, first layouts, first typography and color decisions - sometimes it appears that there are simply too many things to keep in mind - but also too many things left out by mistake in the final design. Yet there have to be the most important ones. Design aspects you, being a professional web-developer, give - or should give - the highest priority to; the ones that make or break a web-site.
You should seek to answer questions such as:
* Who are the users of this 'thing'?
* What are the users’ tasks and goals?
* What are the users’ experience levels with this thing, and things like it?
* What functions do the users need from this thing?
* What information might the users need, and in what form do they need it?
* How do users think this 'thing' should work?
* How can the design of this ‘thing’ facilitate users' cognitive processes?
And than work accordingly on the answers you compile.
It is not always the best graphics or the greatest flash on the website which is going to attract a user or retain him so that he comes again and again to your site, some time it is simple text with playful colors which do the trick for the website.
The main aspect is the reach of the the website. It should be rich in content. The content of the website is the next thing which a user looks at. As in actual he has come to your site because he wants to have a knowledge of the product or service you are selling.
I have come across lots of people saying that they got the best designers to design there websites but still there is nothing in it which can retain the clients/Users..
my answer to there plight was give importance to the design but it should not be the only factor, the content of the page matters in the end.
The third aspect of a website is how well it has been technically coded. The backend html code, how clean the code is and how well have you managed you tags.
As this would come in handy when you promote your website online. For this there is a technique called SEO.I will go through SEO in my other blog may be some time latter in the month . so keep checking.
Till than .. Happy Designing.
